Briefly, this web
site came about as a direct result of the "Marana meeting" at the Arizona
Classic in March 2003. There, during a lull in the competition, Canadian
Joe Chow challenged us all to do something....anything...that
would help the discipline we love and compete in. This is our contribution. This web site can be a center point of communication for training opportunities, meets, equipment sources and a place for a newcomer to learn. We bought the domain name, and host the site on our servers. The bandwidth we pick up as well. However, as anyone who has built a web site can tell you, the time it takes to keep information fresh and correct is the same as the technical demands...which is to say, a lot. So, are there any S & A competitors willing to help with the task of webmaster? If there are, please let us know (see to right). Joe Chow has the right vision. We are glad to help in this small way. It really, really helps us a whole lot if: Photos: You send us your photo as a jpeg, sized less than 25 KB (you compressed it). This saves us about 30 minutes of sleep per photo. If you have no clue how to compress a photo, and we're lucky just to get them as an attachment, send them uncompressed. We'll manipulate them. Text: Long ramblin type of dissertations are best handled as Word documents. You ramblin types know who you are. For all the rest, we can cut and paste from the body of your email. No relation to surgery. Meet Results: send us an Excel file. Period. Nothing else will be accepted. These look pretty cool after we get finished with them, and we don't stay up all night doing data entry. If you are using ScoreKeeper, this is even easier...just send us a copy of your final backup. |
